Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has insisted they are still the best club in the Bundesliga.
The current champions trail the league leaders Borussia Dortmund by 17 points after 15 games.
Despite this, the Germany international is refusing to admit that Bayern have been overtaken this season. In fact, his view is the total opposite.
Opinion
"I am still of the opinion that we are a better side than Dortmund," he told Eurosport.
"I am convinced there is no better team in the Bundesliga than Bayern. Of course, no one can say that Dortmund are playing badly.
"They are very athletic and also very aggressive, but just look at their win over us in the Bundesliga earlier this season.
"They were very lucky to win and we should have wrapped up the game way before half-time."
Interest
Schweinsteiger has attracted interest from some of Europe's elite teams as he has so far refused to sign a new deal.
His present deal expires in the summer of 2012 and he has not yet extended his contract.
However, the industrious midfielder is deciding to keep his options open.
"There are three or four options out there for me and Bayern remains one of those options," he added.
"I am aware that there is interest from foreign clubs but I am also aware that Bayern Munich is a very good club for me and my future."
