Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill has confirmed Danny Webber will not return to training until at least the end of January.
The striker has been sidelined since March due to a cruciate ligament injury, but his first-team comeback remains on hold.
Cotterill does not want to rush the 28-year-old's recovery and admits it will be around another two months before he can resume light training.
"Danny went to see the specialist the other day," Pompey manager Steve Cotterill told The News.
"He is still a little bit down on his muscle bulk and we are maybe looking at him joining in training towards the end of January.
"Even then, it could be no-contact training. I do not want to rush him back. He's had a tough injury and we have just got to make sure that when he comes back, it is right.
"There has not been a setback, he's just not where he wants to be.
"When you come back from these injuries, quite often you get others. He has not had another injury but has had a little bit of pain in front of the patellar tendon. That's probably nature's way of slowing him down a bit."
