Robins impressed by on-loan striker's impact

Barnsley manager Mark Robins is trying to extend the loan deal of Birmingham City striker Garry O'Connor. The Scotland international is currently enjoying his second temporary stint at Oakwell this season and has scored three goals in eight appearances for the Tykes. His current one-month deal is due to expire after Saturday's derby against Sheffield United, but he could stay with Barnsley. Robins has been impressed by the 27-year-old's impact at the club and hopes to agree a deal with Birmingham to hang on to O'Connor. "He has worked hard and has done very well for us. We remain hopeful that something can be done," said Robins. "I've been talking to Garry and his representative. We will see what happens after this loan period."
