Lee McCulloch wants the Rangers takeover saga to be completed as quickly as possible in order to allow Walter Smith room to manoeuvre in the winter transfer window.
Sky Sports News understands that Andrew Ellis and Craig Whyte want to finalise their buyout of the defending SPL champions before Christmas and talks are ongoing.
McCulloch believes that it would be beneficial for all concerned at Ibrox if the business is concluded in the near future as Rangers seek to reinforce their squad in January.
The former Motherwell and Wigan player said in the Daily Record: "I don't know what is happening as regards the takeover.
"But it would be better for everyone if we could get the matter resolved sooner rather than later.
"That way the gaffer will know if he has any money to spend in January.
"I still think we need a couple of fresh faces if we want to do well in Europe and in the league.
"In that regard the gaffer has to be given some money to spend and it would be great to see at least one or two players in."
