Ipswich are set to be without Gareth McAuley for two months after seeing him undergo Achilles surgery.
Town boss Roy Keane confirmed on Friday that the club captain will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
His absence comes as a major blow to Ipswich, as he has been a rock at the heart of the back four this term.
Keane said: "Gareth has had an operation and will be out for a number of months.
"It's a massive blow to us and I know that Gareth is devastated.
"He's been an important player for us, an experienced player. We are going to miss him but we have got to get on with it."
Meanwhile, Ipswich have also been rocked by the news that teenage striker Connor Wickham is set to sit out Sunday's derby date with Norwich.
The 17-year-old picked up a thigh injury while playing for the reserves on Wednesday and will play no part at Carrow Road as a result.
