Wigan winger Daniel De Ridder has joined Ligue 1 outfit Valenciennes on a short-term trial.
The Dutch winger has become a forgotten man at the DW Stadium, slipping alarmingly down the pecking order.
He is yet to make an appearance for the Latics this season, with it painfully apparent that he does not figure in Roberto Martinez's first-team plans.
Wigan have therefore agreed to let the 26-year-old head off to France in an effort to find a new club.
Creative
Valenciennes have confirmed that they will be taking a look at De Ridder, with a place available in their squad for a creative influence.
"He is on trial for at least one week," Valenciennes chairman Francis Decourriere told L'Equipe.
"He is a real winger and since the departures of Fahid Ben Khalfallah to Bordeaux and Johan Audel to Stuttgart, that is what we miss the most.
"The injury to Gaetan Bong has also hurt us and left us a little short."
