Survival still remains the main priority for Newcastle United this season, according to full back Danny Simpson.
The Magpies have flown into seventh place after making an encouraging start to their Premier League return.
But the players, although not content with simply finishing fourth from bottom, are refusing to get carried away with their lofty league position.
Simpson knows there is plenty of hard work ahead before his side can start thinking about more than just avoiding relegation.
The 23-year-old said: "Back in August we'd have taken 17th because that would have meant staying up.
"And even if that's where we eventually finish, we'll be happy in one sense.
"But we are capable of so much more than that and the way we're thinking now we can do so much better.
"We're not getting carried away because this isn't just a tough league it's a tight one too.
"Two defeats and you're right down there again."
