Sylvain Distin has hailed the methods of David Moyes, believing they bring the best out of his players.
The Everton defender has been fortunate enough to work under some big-name bosses in his time, including Harry Redknapp, Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson.
Each of those coaches had different characters and different approaches, with each bringing success in its own way.
Distin, though, believes the sheer hard graft put in by Moyes marks him out as a top drawer tactician.
"With Moyes, the training sessions are the most intense I have ever seen," the former Newcastle, Manchester City and Portsmouth centre-half told France Football.
"With the coach everything is prepared, studied. I have never seen such professionalism.
"Redknapp could get the best out of players through his communication. With Moyes, it's down to his hard work."
Distin has been at Everton since 2009 and is a tried and tested Premier League performer with nine years' experience behind him.
By now he knows what to expect when he steps onto the field, and he insists that the English top flight can sometimes by unfairly labelled as a brutal division to play in.
"Contrary to what people believe, the Premier League is not a physical league," he added.
"Forwards are very good on a technical level, as I found out working with Peter Crouch at Portsmouth.
"Here you have to work very hard every game."
