West Ham have suffered a blow with the news Mark Noble faces a month on the sidelines after undergoing appendix surgery.
Noble was taken to hospital on Monday after complaining of stomach pains at the Hammers' Chadwell Heath training ground.
The 23-year-old underwent an hour-long operation at an Essex hospital to have his appendix removed and he is expected to be out of action for a month.
It means Noble will miss this weekend's game at Birmingham, as well as the matches against West Brom, Blackpool, Liverpool and Wigan this month.
The news is a major blow for Hammers boss Avram Grant as he looks to lead his side off the bottom of the table and to safety in the Premier League.
