Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted he made the right decision to hand Nemanja Vidic the captain's armband at Manchester United.
Ferguson had to make a decision over a new long-term skipper earlier this season with Gary Neville no longer guaranteed to play every week.
Ryan Giggs was in a similar situation at a late stage of his career, while Rio Ferdinand has missed a lot of action due to injury over the past 12 months.
And with Neville, Ferdinand and Giggs all failing to make the trip to Bursaspor for Tuesday's UEFA Champions League clash, it appears Ferguson was correct to place his trust in Vidic.
The Red Devils manager said: "We had to choose someone we felt was going to be fit and playing every week.
"That is difficult when you rotate the squad the way we do.
"We felt Vidic was closest to that. And he is a defender and I always think they make better captains."
