Sevilla winger Jesus Navas is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks.
The Spanish international needs surgery on an ankle after aggravating the problem.
Navas had been in training for the last two weeks as he attempted to build up his fitness, but now it has been decided that surgery is needed after he suffered a fresh setback.
A statement on the club's official website said: "Jesus Navas will be out for a number of weeks."
Reports suggest that Navas could take up to a month to recover.
