Derby County manager Nigel Clough is hoping the club can agree a deal to keep Kris Commons at Pride Park.

The forward's current contract expires at the end of the season and talks were held last week regarding an extension for the Scotland international.

Commons has expressed a wish to stay at the Championship club and Clough believes an agreement can be reached with the 26-year-old.

"There was a meeting last week which was positive and I think another will be scheduled for possibly this week or next," said Clough.

"We are doing everything we can to keep him here. He has said he would like to stay and we would like him to stay.

"If that is the case and you have got two parties who want to do a deal, then we hope one will get done soon."
