Jussi Jaaskelainen believes Gary Cahill is ready to play for England after taking his game to a new level.
The Bolton defender made his international debut as a substitute against Bulgaria in September but then played no part in the win over Switzerland and was left out of the initial squad to face Montenegro.
Despite later being called up to replace the injured Phil Jagielka, Cahill played no part in the goalless draw at Wembley.
Trotters manager Owen Coyle has regularly championed Cahill's case for regular inclusion with the Three Lions and goalkeeper Jaaskelainen also feels he deserves a chance.
Jaaskelainen has noted an improvement in his team-mate's performances this season and has urged Fabio Capello to give him the nod.
"Gary has gone from strength to strength," he said in the Sunday Express.
"He is much more comfortable on the ball this season and is ready for England."
