Barnsley have signed Preston striker Paul Hayes on loan and allowed Iain Hume to remain at Deepdale.
Hume was expected to return to Barnsley this week after the initial 42 days stipulated in his loan move from Oakwell.
However, the two clubs have reached a compromise to allow Hume to stay at Preston until 15th December, while Hayes has gone in the opposite direction.
Hayes returns to former club Barnsley after failing to establish himself in Darren Ferguson's plans at Preston.
Barnsley boss Mark Robins was keen to bolster his attacking options and he agreed a deal to sign Hayes until 1st January.
Hayes is expected to go straight into the Barnsley squad to face Hull City this weekend.
