Manchester City are monitoring Sporting Lisbon defender Daniel Carrico amid similar interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
The 22-year-old is under contract until 2013, but the number of clubs who are keeping track of his development suggests that a big-money move could soon materialise.
Roberto Mancini's City would be confident of outbidding Juventus and Atletico, and Eastlands technical director Mike Rigg has confirmed that Carrico is on the radar.
"We are always looking at players and I can't deny Carrico is an interesting player," Rigg told Portuguese newspaper Record.
"But we haven't decided on this subject and we are respectful as a club towards other clubs and contacts."
