Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone admits he has not gone on loan to Hull to sit on the bench.
The 22-year-old has joined the struggling Championship side on an initial deal until January and set his immediate sights on dislodging number one Matt Duke.
Duke has been an ever present in Nigel Pearson's side this term and knows Mannone has a lot to prove.
"I have already been working very hard in training," he told Hull's official website.
"It isn't easy coming in when the season has started and the other guys are already playing, but I'm trying to show everything I can in training.
"I'm aiming for a first-team place, I can't lie about that. I'm here to play, to gain first-team experience and Arsenal want that for me as well.
"But I have to earn it and I'm doing everything I can to play in the team."
