Garry O'Connor wants to stay at Birmingham, but is waiting to learn if he will be offered a new deal.

Striker waiting for talks regarding future at St Andrews

Garry O'Connor wants to stay at Birmingham City, but is still waiting to learn whether he will be offered a new contract. The Scotland striker was handed a six-month deal by Blues in the summer and was challenged to prove his fitness after a lengthy lay-off with a hip injury. He has recently returned to St Andrews after a loan spell at Barnsley and impressed for Birmingham during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Blackpool. Blues boss Alex McLeish has praised the way in which the 27-year-old has recovered from the career-threatening injury and O'Connor is now keen to be rewarded with an extension.

Faith

O'Connor said: "Nothing is being said at the moment about a new contract. "The gaffer has got faith in me. It is just about people upstairs at the club. "I would love to stay at Birmingham. It's a fantastic club and I've enjoyed my time here and hope it can continue. "I've got to keep my head down and keep working hard. "But, if it doesn't happen for me here, I can move on being happy with my form at the moment."
