Leicester City have signed former Aston Villa and Manchester City striker Darius Vassell on a free transfer.
As first revealed by skysports.com, Walkers Stadium boss Sven Goran Eriksson wanted the 30-year-old after they worked together with England and at Eastlands.
Vassell was a free agent after leaving Turkish side Ankaragucu but he is viewed as an ideal player to help the Foxes in their bid to earn promotion from the Championship.
Eriksson has snapped up Vassell on a deal until the end of the 2011/12 season.
Eriksson is quickly reshaping the squad he inherited from predecessor Paulo Sousa and the Swede has already signed Curtis Davies and Kyle Naughton on loan.
Vassell began his career with Villa and signed for Manchester City in a £2million deal in the summer of 2005.
He made 22 appearances for England and scored six goals after making his international debut in 2002.
