Shakhtar striker touched by emotional reception

Eduardo has admitted it felt 'unbelievable' to be given such a warm reception on his return to Arsenal. The Croatian striker came on for Shakhtar Donetsk in their UEFA Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night after leaving the London club over the summer. He was cheered by the Arsenal supporters and they even applauded when he scored a consolation goal in Shakhtar's 5-1 defeat. Eduardo kept his pre-match promise by not celebrating the strike but felt touched by the reaction from the Gunners faithful. "It was unbelievable," the 27-year-old told Arsenal TV Online, before insisting he would always follow his former club's results. "It was like I still play for Arsenal, when I came back and they started to call my name. It was fantastic. "It was already 5-0, so that [not celebrating] was normal. "But I was here for three years, had some great times with the manager, the players and the supporters, so I must respect this. "I will continue to watch every Arsenal game on TV when I can. "Now, though, I am a Shakhtar player and will give all my best for them, like I did for Arsenal."

Tough

Shakhtar had won both of their opening Group H games and came to Arsenal on an impressive run of form. But they were completely outclassed by the Gunners and Eduardo admits it was always going to be a tough test. "We prepared well before the game, but on the pitch we did not do what we had to do," he said. "But that is Arsenal - they are favourites to win against every team which comes here."
