Injuries to Esteban Cambiasso and Diego Milito have dealt Inter Milan an untimely blow.
The duo limped out of Argentina's friendly date with Japan, leaving their domestic employers sweating on their fitness.
Both men have sustained muscular problems, with fears raised as to how long they could be sidelined.
The full extent of the knocks is yet to be determined, but the outlook does not look good.
Cambiasso and Milito are scheduled to undergo scans once they return to Italy, allowing Inter to gain a greater insight into their injuries.
It is, however, expected that they will be forced to sit out a Serie A date with Cagliari next Sunday.
Should Inter receive bad news on the pair's fitness, they may also be missing for a crunch UEFA Champions League clash with Tottenham on 20th October.
