Skysports.com understands Championship trio Nottingham Forest, Burnley and Leeds are lining up a move for Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson.
Forest have held a long-term interest in Johnson having seen a bid rejected for the Jamaican's services in the summer transfer window.
Burnley are now monitoring Johnson's situation with Clarets boss Brian Laws a big admirer of the 30-year-old from his time in charge of the Owls.
Leeds are also keeping tabs on the player, with Whites chief Simon Grayson keen to bolster his midfield options.
The three interested clubs are exploring the option of signing Johnson on an emergency loan with a view to a permanent move when the transfer window reopens in January.
Wednesday could decide to cash-in to help ease their financial problems, and with Johnson in the final year of his contract they are likely to try and sell him rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.
