Corry Evans is hoping Northern Ireland can build on their fine start to Group C against Italy on Friday, live Sky Sports HD 1.
20-year-old Evans, younger brother of Manchester United team-mate Jonny, scored the only goal of the game in their away win over Slovenia.
The versatile youngster scored with his first touch of the game in Maribor as Northern Ireland secured a famous win away from home.
Up next are European giants Italy and Evans is hoping his team-mates can build on their victory with a result against the Azzurri.
"It's a big confidence booster, especially in our away form," he told Sky Sports News.
"We had a bit of criticism before beforehand about conceding goals and lack of goals.
"On the away side it's a big confidence booster and the other fact was that it was our first game.
"It sets us up brilliantly now for the upcoming matches and the rest of the campaign.
"We've still got to work hard. We can't just rely on that one result. We need to build on it now."
Evans was stunned to score against Slovenia and is eager to stick away more chances should they present themselves.
"It's hard to describe. I don't score many," he continued. "Hopefully I can build on it and get a few more if I get a chance."
