Germany will be without midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for their upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Turkey and Kazakhstan.
The Bayern Munich schemer was a key player for his country as Germany reached the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer.
However, a foot injury sustained against Borussia Dortmund at the weekend means the 26-year-old will miss the nation's next two qualifiers.
Germany are top of Group A and level on six points with second-placed Turkey after two games.
Hamburg defender Marcell Jansen will also miss the games against Turkey and Kazakhstan, the DFB added.
