Fiorentina have been dealt a blow with the news that playmaker Stevan Jovetic will be sidelined for six months.
Jovetic sustained a knee problem during pre-season and has now been forced to undergo surgery.
The 20-year-old has had an arthroscopic knee operation in Germany, where he will remain for the next five weeks for rehabilitation.
Montenegro international Jovetic shone for Fiorentina last season, in particular on the UEFA Champions League stage.
Jovetic's absence is further bad news for Viola, who are already without suspended forward Adrian Mutu until 28th October.
