Leicester midfielder Richie Wellens has backed Sven Goran Eriksson's appointment as the club's new manager.
Former England chief Eriksson was confirmed as Leicester's new boss on Sunday following the sacking of Paulo Sousa on Friday.
Wellens is relishing working under Eriksson and feels the Swede can transform Leicester's fortunes after a poor start to the season.
"Sven's a top-class manager and has got one of the highest profiles in world football," Wellens told The Sun.
"He managed England and has massive experience so these are very exciting times for Leicester City."
Sousa was axed after just nine league games at the Walkers Stadium and Wellens admitted he was shocked by the Portuguese tactician's demise, but feels the club must back Milan Mandaric's decision to replace the former Swansea boss.
Shocked"We were shocked over Paulo," added Wellens.
"He was supposed to have a long-term plan for the club but in the end only lasted nine games.
"But things were not right and football is a results-driven business.
"We feel for Paulo, to go after such a short time seems very harsh. But we have to respect Milan's decision.
"He's had success at clubs like Portsmouth and we've got to trust him. He decided to act before it was too late."
