Newcastle boss Chris Hughton has dismissed reports linking him with a move for Ipswich hot-shot Connor Wickham
Wickham is one of the hottest properties outside the Premier League after bursting onto the scene at Portman Road.
A whole host of clubs have been credited with an interest in Wickham, who has been tipped for the top since breaking into Roy Keane's side.
Hughton was an interested observer for Ipswich's 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe on Saturday, fuelling rumours of a move for Wickham.
However, the Magpies boss has moved quickly to dispel the speculation by saying Wickham was not the reason for his visit to Glanford Park.
"There is absolutely nothing in it," Hughton told the Evening Chronicle.
"I went to Scunthorpe on Saturday because it was one of the closest places to get to after training."
