Marek Hamsik has signed a new deal with Napoli to keep him at the club until 2015.
The 23-year-old playmaker has been regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in the European game for some time and was linked with a move elsewhere during the summer.
Hamsik preferred to ignore the speculation and focus on the World Cup, where he helped Slovakia reach the last 16.
And, with the transfer window now shut and the new season in full flow, Hamsik has decided to commit his long-term future to the club.
"I am happy for this renewal," he told the club's official website. "I always said I am fine in Naples, it is a city I love and I feel at home.
"There is an important project here and we all want to achieve great things together."
Aurelio De Laurentiis also expressed his delight at the deal, saying: "I am happy that Marek wanted this.
"It is proof that Napoli wants to grow and achieve those objectives that our fans deserve."
