Tykes winger not tempted by Premier League interest

Barnsley winger Adam Hammill has stated that he would rather be playing for the Tykes than move to the Premier League. The former Liverpool winger has impressed with the South Yorkshire outfit, with top flight sides Bolton and former club Blackpool rumoured to be interested in his signature. Hammill, however, insisted that he was happy with life at Oakwell, and that he wanted to achieve as much as he could where he was. "It's flattering to be linked with a move to the Premier League, but I want to stay at Barnsley. I want to play in the Premier League, hopefully that happens one day," he told The Star. "But right now I think I'm going to become a better player if I stay at Barnsley and have a full season with the club. If there had been a bid for me at the start of the season then I would have stayed; I'm really enjoying my football here."

Robins praise

Hammill has been in good form this season, scoring four goals in eight games so far, and has cited his relationship with manager Mark Robins as a big factor. "We've got a good relationship, working under him is good for me," added Hammill. "I've matured as a player under Mark and he's given me freedom to play how I like to play. "He's played for Manchester United and some really great clubs; you can only listen to people who have played at the top level and listen to what they've got to say. "And this season I feel I've finally started to pay back the fans. Last season I wasn't happy with some of my performances, but this season I've started to play like I know I can. I'm enjoying my football and I'm not scared to try things. "It's great to be playing well and scoring goals, but I don't want to be scoring and us losing."
