Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that Leeds are in talks regarding loaning Northern Ireland international George McCartney.
Former West Ham left-back McCartney is currently out of favour at the Stadium of Light after suffering knee ligament damage in a pre-season game in Portugal.
The 29-year-old is yet to feature for Sunderland this season and Bruce sees the loan move as the perfect opportunity for him to regain match sharpness.
Bruce attended Leeds' goalless draw with Doncaster on Friday, a match that youngster Aidy White started at left-back, to watch his son Alex in action.
Following Sunderland's Carling Cup defeat to the Hammers on Tuesday Bruce confirmed the clubs were in talks and that McCartney would likely be joining Leeds.
