Rangers manager Walter Smith hopes to seal the signing of Salim Kerkar within the next few days.
The 23-year-old winger is a free agent after leaving French club Guegnon and has been training with Gers for several weeks.
Smith confirmed over the weekend that Kerkar had been offered a deal and he is now looking to make the move official.
Kerkar has made a positive impression in training and Smith believes it would be a good signing for the club.
"We are just trying to get the full background before we go on and complete that deal," he told Rangers' official website.
"He has been training with us for a few weeks now and he has been looking good so hopefully we can get a resolution to that in the next few days.
"He gives us options in the wide areas. He can play either side and he has done well in the bounce games he has featured in.
"It will be a relief to the lad once things are sorted because he has been around us for a while now and I think he will be glad to get everything over with."
