Preston goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has been fined and warned as to his future conduct.
The 26-year-old was hit with a Football Association charge for using abusive and/or provocative gestures towards rival supporters earlier this month.
The charge related to his conduct towards Burnley fans at the end of his side's 4-3 defeat at Turf Moor.
Lonergan has now been ordered to pay £5,000 after admitting the charge, while he has also been told to watch his future behaviour.
Preston manager Darren Ferguson admitted a charge of improper conduct for insulting and/or abusive language and behaviour towards referee Kevin Friend in the tunnel after the same game.
Ferguson was then handed a three-match touchline ban and was therefore not allowed to take his place in the dugout on Saturday as Preston lost 1-0 against Norwich to continue their poor start to the season.
Preston have collected just three points from their first seven Championship games and only Portsmouth are keeping them off the bottom of the table.
