Atletico Madrid defender Tomas Ujfalusi has apologised for his robust tackle on Lionel Messi.
Argentina star Messi was stretchered off in the final minute of Barcelona's 2-1 victory at Atletico on Sunday following a late challenge by Ujfalusi.
The World Player of the Year, who scored the opening goal of the clash, is facing up to three weeks out with an ankle sprain.
Czech stopper Ujfalusi, who was sent off for the tackle, apologised to Messi on Monday.
"I'm sorry. I would like to publicly apologise, because, honestly, it wasn't my intention," Ujfalusi told a news conference.
"I tried to go for the ball, but naturally, with the speed he had, he also could not stop and I was unlucky as my foot stepped on his ankle."
