Marlon King should be a Coventry City player by Monday, according to manager Aidy Boothroyd.
The Sky Blues chief confirmed he is on the verge of completing the signing of former Watford striker.
"Marlon will sign for us on Monday all being well and I think we are getting a £5million player for nothing," said Boothroyd, whose side secured their first away win of the season at Bristol City.
"I'm very happy with my squad as it is, but Marlon has been a terrific player at a high level and will give us that bit extra."
King was jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of sexual assault and was released from prison in July.
The striker was a Wigan player when he was jailed but is now a free agent and has vowed to clear his name.
King has also played for Barnet, Gillingham, Nottingham Forest and Watford and had loan spells at Leeds and Hull.
