The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move during the transfer window as a number of top clubs were thought to be interested.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp expressed his admiration for Fabiano, while Marseille were also keen to secure his signature.

A switch failed to materialise and Fabiano eventually put an end to the speculation just before the end of August by putting pen to paper on a contract extension.

He is now tied to the Spanish club for three more years and looking forward to the challenge ahead, although he concedes that a move elsewhere did sound appealing.

"I had some attractive propositions but the price was set too high, and no club could match the fee asked by Sevilla," Fabiano told L'Equipe.

"At the end of the summer transfer window, I have renewed my contract until June 2013.

"But you know I am fine here. I feel really at home at Sevilla, even if I was tempted by other adventures."

Honour

Fabiano admits his preferred choice would have been to join Marseille, but had no problem with the final decision made by Sevilla.

"It was an honour to have been contacted by l'OM and I let both clubs negotiate," he explained.

"Sevilla had to accept the proposition. I told my officials I was keen to join Marseille.

"But I didn't want to put any pressure on them. The proposition was attractive to me, but not to Sevilla.

"I said yes because I knew the club's dimension. It is a great club."
