Harry Redknapp has confirmed he substituted Rafael van der Vaart during Tottenham's 2-2 draw at Werder Bremen as a precaution.
Deadline day signing Van der Vaart was replaced early in the second half of the UEFA Champions League fixture in Germany after picking up a calf injury.
Spurs boss Redknapp did not want to aggravate the problem and will monitor the Holland international's fitness ahead of Saturday's Premier League game against Wolves.
"We got him off before he actually got a tear," said Redknapp.
Meanwhile, Redknapp believes Group A in the Champions League is wide open after both matches on the opening night finished 2-2.
Spurs let a two-goal lead slip against Bremen, while holders Inter Milan had to come from behind to salvage a point away to Dutch champions FC Twente.
Redknapp added: "It'll be a tight group for sure. Twente are a good side; Inter couldn't win there.
"If we can draw away from home and win our home games, we'll be okay.
"I couldn't ask for more than what we did."
