Defender Cannavaro, 29, has been with the Serie A side for four years and has become a stalwart at San Paolo during his time with Napoli.

Slovakia midfielder Hamsik, 23, has been strongly linked with a switch away but Bigon is confident both will sign new terms.

He told Radio Marte: "There is time for renewal of Paolo Cannavaro's contract.

"We have confidence and esteem in the player. Paolo is a serious guy and very attached to the jersey.

"There is no exact date for a renewal. There is time and soon we will all get round a table to talk about it."

Rumours

On Hamsik, he added: "I've read rumours that Bayern Monaco are interested in Marek Hamsik.

"The boy has a contract until 2014 and I'm sure we will announce his renewal."

Bigon also revealed that Napoli were interested in signing both Enzo Maresca and Gokhan Inler during the summer transfer window but moves never materialised.

He remarked: "Some time ago I spoke with the agent of Enzo Maresca but ultimately the deal didn't go through.

"Same thing for Inler. We talked with Udinese but in the end there were no conditions to close the negotiation."
