Bayern Munich goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt could extend his playing career by at least one more season.
It had been expected that the 36-year-old would retire at the end of the current campaign when his contract expires.
But four-time Germany international Butt insists it is not certain that he will call it a day next summer if he remains as Bayern's first-choice goalkeeper.
He told Kicker: "I am not necessarily going to quit come the end of the season.
"If everything goes well, I could imagine going on for one more season.
"But I am only going to do that if I am still the starting goalkeeper of Bayern Munich.
"I am not going to end my career as a back-up goalkeeper at some club.
"I always wanted to end my career at a high level. I am not going to switch clubs again."
