Preston defender Wayne Brown believes Sean St Ledger is one of the best players currently outside the Premier League.
Defender St Ledger, 25, spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough with a view to a permanent deal, but a move for the Republic of Ireland international never materialised.
Brown, meanwhile, joined Championship Preston in the summer but an injury has hampered his progress at Deepdale, having yet to make a first-team appearance for his new club.
However, the defender has been at North End long enough to see the quality that team-mate St Ledger possesses.
He said: "Ledge is an outstanding player and one of the best defenders in this division.
"With his ability, he's capable of going on to bigger and better things but hopefully he can do that with Preston."
