Crystal Palace boss George Burley is hopeful Darren Ambrose could be back in action in two weeks.
It was feared Ambrose had broken a leg after suffering an injury earlier in the season, but scans showed it to be just severe bruising.
Burley has revealed Ambrose is progressing well and that he could return to the first-team later this month.
"Darren is progressing well and has done some light jogging," Burley told the Croydon Guardian.
"It's going to be two or three weeks before he is ready.
"It is a boost that it wasn't broken because as I have said from day one, Darren is a key player for us having scored 20 goals last season and its been a big blow him being out."
