Deal subject to Premier League approval

West Ham United have agreed a deal to sign Lars Jacobsen from Blackburn Rovers subject to Premier League approval. The Hammers had a largely quiet transfer deadline day, but manager Avram Grant has lined up a deal for Jacobsen after reportedly missing out on his Blackburn team-mate Pascal Chimbonda. The transfer, which will involve no fee, was sealed late on deadline day and checks were being made to ensure the relevant paperwork was submitted before the 6pm deadline. The 30-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Ewood Park under the stewardship of boss Sam Allardyce, making just 13 appearances since his arrival from Everton in 2009. Jacobsen's spell at the Toffees was equally frustrating for the Dane as he featured just five times in a season-long stay at Goodison Park that was hindered by a shoulder injury. But Grant has thrown Jacobsen a lifeline by offering him the chance to extend his Premier League career at Upton Park. Jacobsen began his career at Danish side Odense and played for Hamburg, FC Copenhagen and Nurnberg before joining Everton two years ago. The stopper featured in all three of Denmark's World Cup encounters as they failed to progress from their group and the experienced campaigner has 35 caps in total to his name.
