Frenchman happy with Bremen move

Werder Bremen have signed former France defender Mikael Silvestre on a free transfer. As revealed by skysports.com last weekend, Silvestre has joined the German giants on a two-year deal after rejecting offers from other clubs. Silvestre left Arsenal earlier in the summer after seeing out his contract at Emirates Stadium. The former Manchester United star is looking forward to plying his trade in Germany "This is a great new adventure for me," Silvestre told www.kicker.de. "There were other offers, but (coach) Thomas Schaaf and (general manager) Klaus Allofs fascinated me. "I want to be one of the leading players in the team and to help guide the younger players. Schaaf added: "He is still hungry for success. I'm sure our players will benefit from him being here. He's an asset."
