Wilfred Bouma has completed an emotional return to PSV Eindhoven by penning a two-year contract.

Full-back pens two-year deal with former employers

Wilfred Bouma has completed an emotional return to PSV Eindhoven by penning a two-year contract. The full-back was released into the free agent pool this summer having seen his contract at Aston Villa reach a conclusion. Reports suggested he had options to stay in England, with Wigan among those believed to be keen on the experienced Dutchman. However, Bouma opted to head home and linked up with former employers PSV in an effort to maintain his fitness levels. Having impressed during pre-season, the Eredivisie giants have now handed the 32-year-old defender a full-time deal. Bouma returns to the Philips Stadion five years after departing for Villa Park. During his first stint with the club, which lasted 11 years, he made over 200 appearances and forced his way into the Holland national side.

Terms

PSV are delighted to welcome Bouma back and have confirmed that a deal has been agreed on their official website. "PSV's technical director Marcel Brands confirmed on Sunday that Wilfred Bouma will return to his former club PSV," read a short statement. "The 32-year old defender will pledge his future to PSV by signing a new two-year contract shortly. Bouma has already agreed personal terms." Bouma is now setting his sights on holding down a regular first-team role, saying: "It is up to the coach to decide when he needs me but I would like to show I can still contribute. "PSV is a team with great potential. I am very happy to be back at PSV."
