Plymouth manager Peter Reid has cleared the way for defender Chris Barker to extend his stay at Southend.
The 30-year-old left-back has spent a month on loan with Paul Sturrock's side, a spell which expires following the Shrimpers' clash with Bradford on Friday.
However, Reid expects talks to take place in the coming days over a deal for the rest of the season.
"I have no objection to that," he told Herald Sport. "I should imagine we will have a chat with Southend later this week."
