Fulham close in on Mexican defender

Skysports.com understands Mexican defender Carlos Salcido is flying into England for talks with Fulham over a possible move. As revealed by skysports.com on Wednesday, Fulham have lined up a deal for PSV Eindhoven stopper Salcido as a possible replacement for Liverpool target Paul Konchesky. Fulham boss Mark Hughes confirmed after Wednesday's Carling Cup win over Port Vale that they were interested in signing Salcidio. The Cottagers are now thought have to agreed a fee with PSV for the 30-year-old, who has also been linked with the Reds. Salcido has now been given permission to travel to London to hold talks with Fulham and have a look around the club's training ground. The full-back would be Hughes's third signing of the summer if he ties up a move to West London following the arrivals of Rafik Halliche and Moussa Dembele.
