Oldham have bolstered their squad with the signing of DR Congo international Rodrigue Dikaba from Romanian club Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt.
The versatile 24-year-old, who usually plays at right-back, has earned a short-term contract after impressing on trial.
Latics manager Paul Dickov is delighted to have signed Dikaba, who could make his debut in Saturday's League One clash away to Charlton.
"His attitude is spot on, he is hungry and a very good defender," Dickov told the club's official website.
"And he also fits the bill in being a good age."
Oldham have also signed goalkeeping coach Paul Gerrard on non-contract forms to provide additional cover between the posts.
Youngster Josh Ollerenshaw has sat on the bench so far this season but Dickov was keen to have a more senior option so has registered Gerrard as a player.
He explained: "Josh has been doing well, but signing Paul provides additional cover and also experience just in case we were to suffer another injury."
