Skysports.com understands that West Brom have tabled a £3million offer for FC Twente midfielder Cheick Tiote.
The Baggies ran the rule over the talented 24-year-old when Italy played Ivory Coast in a recent friendly at Upton Park.
Tiote played the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 friendly success and his performance clearly caught the eye of watching scouts.
West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has made five signings this summer, but Steven Reid is his only added midfield option.
Tiote made four World Cup appearances in South Africa over the summer and played in victories over Japan and North Korea.
The midfielder began his career in Belgium with Anderlecht before joining Twente in 2008 after a loan spell with Roda JC.
