Forest stormed out of the blocks in their first home game of the season and took a deserved lead thanks to Dexter Blackstock's ninth-minute header.

However, Billy Davies' men were made to pay for not taking full advantage of their early dominance as Leeds levelled through Lloyd Sam and the visitors held on for the remainder of the match to claim a point.

The main talking point of the game came in the 79th minute when Chris Gunter petulantly stamped on the foot of Sanchez Watt during a break in play.

Grayson believed that the Forest full-back was fortunate not to have seen red, saying: "I've seen it. Sanchez has accidentally stood on his (Gunter's) foot but the other lad certainly hasn't."

The Elland Road boss was very pleased with his side's battling spirit, adding: "For the first 15-20 minutes we were on the back foot. They had a real go at us.

"We changed the system to make sure that we could be a bit more solid and we finally got a foot hold in the game.

"In the second half, we were far better in possession and we created some good chances.

"We dug in and that's what you have to do sometimes. We've now got belief in the camp and we have to build on that."
