Macclesfield Town striker John Rooney is currently on trial with Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders.
The 19-year-old, who is the younger brother of England and Manchester United star Wayne, has the chance to impress in America for a week despite being under contract with the Silkmen.
Seattle manager Sigi Schmid admits the MLS outfit are keeping an eye on Rooney, to see if the forward has what it takes to make it.
"He's here for us to have a look at him," he said. "He's on trial, we want to see where he's at and what he's like as a player.
"He's a player that was brought to our attention and so it seemed like this was a good week because we have a week of training to be able to look at him, and some other guys as well."
Rooney went on trial with League One side Huddersfield Town earlier in the summer but manager Lee Clark decided not to offer him a contract.
