Sunderland have re-signed defender John Mensah on a season-long loan deal from Lyon.
The Ghana international spent last term at the Stadium of Light on a similar arrangement that came to an end in the summer.
The Black Cats have been busy trying to bring him back and Lyon announced over the weekend that the 27-year-old would be returning to Wearside.
Sunderland have now confirmed the move as well, with the recruitment of Mensah adding to Steve Bruce's options at the back.
Titus Bramble and Marcos Angeleri have already arrived as Bruce looks to craft a stronger defence than last term.
Sunderland conceded 56 goals in the Premier League and were briefly involved in a relegation battle before pulling clear to finish in 13th.
Mensah impressed when he did feature but only made 18 appearances as a series of injuries hampered his progress.
He will be hoping to feature in the opening game of the new campaign at home to Birmingham on Saturday.
