Goalkeeper Ben Foster has withdrawn from the England squad to play Hungary at Wembley on Wednesday after suffering a back injury.
The Birmingham No.1's withdrawal is yet another blow for head coach Fabio Capello, who has called up Watford's Scott Loach and Blackburn's Frankie Fielding into the squad as cover ahead of the friendly.
Manchester City's Joe Hart had been left as the only shot-stopper in the party and is now likely to play the whole game on Wednesday night.
Fielding will be playing for the England Under-21 side in their friendly game against Uzbekistan U21 on Tuesday night, before immediately joining up with the senior squad straight after the game at Ashton Gate.
Overlooked
The 22-year-old Blackburn-born player is yet to make a first-team appearance for Rovers and the only senior action he has experienced so far has been during loan spells with Wycombe, Northampton and Rochdale.
Loach is due to play for the Hornets in their first round Carling Cup tie at Aldershot on Tuesday night, after which he will now be released to England, who are based in Watford.
As Paul Robinson announced his international retirement on Sunday, hours after being recalled to Capello's squad, it leaves the Three Lions with only Hart remaining from the goalkeepers originally picked.
World Cup duo David James and Robert Green have been overlooked altogether as the Italian looks to revamp his squad for this friendly fixture following England's hugely disappointing campaign in South Africa.
